The Y GLIDE cutting collar was originally created by Paolo De Marco, a 3rd generation hairdresser and barber, 15 years ago for his own shops.

Dissatisfied with standard cutting collars that felt like a heavy weight on the shoulders and were not effective at keeping cut hairs at bay or staying in place when the client moved their neck, Paolo sought to create a new cutting collar product. 

His goal was to eliminate the discomfort of a heavy weight on the client's shoulder, protect capes and clothing from accidental snips or colour drips, and prevent irritation caused by cut hairs during the hair service.

After successfully developing an incredibly thin, sustainable vegan leather material that measures just 1.35mm, consisting of hand-crafted layers meticulously sewn together, the Y GLIDE was born. This innovative collar elevates the salon experience for both clients and hairdressers.

Having retired from hairdressing in 2022, Paolo decided to release the Y GLIDE to the hairdressing industry in 2023.
